Rules and Regulations

1. ViBGYOR is a Festival for the Non-Feature films category with four major sections, namely the ViBGYOR Package, Focus of the Year, Kerala Spectrum and the Retrospectives. Last date for submitting your films (under all categories) is December 25, 2007(post marked). You may send films--Documentaries, Short fiction, Music videos, Animation films and Spots-- to the following Non-Competitive/Competition Sections.

2. ViBGYOR package has seven themes representing the colors of the rainbow. They are: `Ethnicity, `Dalit Reality', `Gender & Sexuality', `Fundamentalism v/s Diversity', `Nation State', `Globalization' and Region Focus (Eastern India)

3. For the year 2008, we have chosen `ENERGY' as the theme for the 'Focus of the Year' section.

4. There will be a Competition Section under the `Kerala Spectrum' category for Documentary and Short Fiction . Only films made after January 1, 2006 by filmmakers residing in Kerala can enroll at the Competition Section. The documentaries
should have themes dealing with Kerala society, life and culture. Short fiction does not have theme specification. There is an entry fee of Rs.500/-. The Demand Draft should be sent favouring ViBGYOR Film Collective payable at Thrissur.


5. There will be pre-selection for all categories.

6. To register your film in any section, download the entry form  and fill it in by computer or hand. Post it, signed, to us with two DVDs (Region 2 or All Region) copies of your film, with a synopsis (65 words or less), a quality still from the film and a photo of the Director. Make sure the film title, your name, e-mail and contact numbers are written on the Disc. If you haven't signed the entry form we will not accept your film, for issues concerning copyright and public exhibition.

7. Film still must be either prints of at least 15cm x 10cm or scanned images of 300dpi in JPEG or TIFF format on CD. The purpose is to publish in the ViBGYOR Festival Book.

8. The address where the packages should be sent: ViBGYOR Film Festival Office, Chetana Media Institute, Palace Road, Trichur 680 020, Kerala Tel: 0487-2330830. Make sure to leave the sender's address and e-mail on the reverse side of your package; the festival committee cannot accept responsibility for any damage or loss of parcels during transit. The receipt of your parcel shall be duly acknowledged via email.

9. Films of all languages should have English subtitles. The idea is to makeit easier for the international audience. All the screening will be in original audio with English subtitles.

10. It is the responsibility of the Entrant to clear all issues pertaining to copyright/s on music and other materials included in the film and/or other related materials including film clippings.

11. The Entrant agrees that all related materials they send to the Festival can be used for the promotion of the Festival by organizers in any form through the diverse media outlets. The Festival reserves the right to use clip/s in montages (promotional trailers) with a new audio track (Music and V.O.).

12.  The festival retains the right to keep copies of films entered, for future non-commercial screenings (mostly as part of the 'ViBGYOR Touring Festival')

13. All expenses related to the festival entry and participation (if not intimated otherwise) have to be borne by the participant/s.

14.  In the event of a legal dispute, the court of appeal will be at Trichur.
